NexDock XL, a new product that just hit the market, may blur those lines even further. This is a device that turns a compatible smartphone into a fully functional 15.6-inch laptop with a 120Hz touchscreen. In this case, the device gets rid of memory, processor or operating system and simply connects to the smartphone either via USB-C, USB-C or USB-C. without wires.
Specifications and Features
The NexDock XL features a 57Wh battery that is said to offer up to seven hours of battery life. It adds a USB-A port, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and a microSD card reader to the connected smartphone functionality. In addition, the device’s display can be controlled via the mini-HDMI port. With an overall height of 16.6mm and a weight of 1.91kg, the NexDock XL is thicker and heavier than many Ultrabooks, but still offers impressive portability.
Prices and Availability
NexDock XL is already available for pre-order on the manufacturer’s website for $349. The manufacturer also supplies to Germany and Austria. However, the keyboard is only offered with a QWERTY layout in ANSI format. Buyers should consider shipping and import costs in addition to the purchase price.
