Netflix: a feared increase in subscription prices after the screenwriters’ strike

After five months of social conflict, the American entertainment industry must get back on its feet. There could be a price increase at streaming giant Netflix.

Will Netflix increase the price of its subscriptions (again)? This is to be feared. According to the Wall Street Journal, the American video streaming giant is considering changing the price of its ad-free subscription. This is an expected consequence of the strikes by American screenwriters and actors.

This standoff, which lasted nearly five months, is said to have cost the mighty entertainment industry some $5 billion. Not to mention that content production has been halted for weeks, which will inevitably impact the content offered in the coming months.

Different challenges to overcome

This subscription increase is currently being discussed in the United States and Canada. But Europe could follow…

Netflix faces several challenges. After raising prices in 2021 and looking to share passwords, it experienced a drop in subscribers in early 2022.
