Air traffic: a new record at the end of September 2023

This development includes an increase in international commercial air traffic, which registered a volume of 1,904,881 passengers, i.e. a recovery rate of 98.6% compared to the same period of 2019.
By geographical area, the statistics for the month of September are particularly striking, with recovery levels of 104% in Europe, 97% in the Middle and Far East, 106% in North America and 66% in Africa.
By airport, that of Casablanca (Mohamed V) accounts for 35.4% of the total traffic with 745,052 passengers with a recovery rate of 82% compared to 2019, followed by that of Marrakech with a share of 22.4% for 472,300 passengers, i.e. a recovery rate of 88% compared to 2019.
Cumulatively, total air traffic from January to the end of September 2023 records recovery rates of 102.8% of passengers and 98.7% for airport movements compared to the same period of 2019, i.e. 19,413,904 passengers and 155,691 airport movements for all airports.
Air freight, in turn, achieved a recovery rate of 92.4% in the month of September, i.e. 6,427.4 tonnes, compared to the same period in 2019, when cumulative traffic amounted to 55,784.3 tonnes, representing a recovery rate of 79.9 %.
