Belgian-Moroccan Nordin El Hajjioui, alias “Dikke Nordin” will be extradited to Belgium from Dubai to be questioned by the Belgian judiciary. A man among Interpol’s 50 most wanted will finally be tried.

Born in Antwerp in 1987, the 36-year-old drug dealer known in the industry as “Gros Nordin” or “NWA” (Never Works Again) has been on the run since 2015. He has been part of the Mocro Mafia, a Moroccan mafia organization based in the Netherlands and Belgium since the 1990s.

His first big hit dates back to 2012, when 200 kg of cocaine was delivered to the port of Antwerp. The Belgian police then investigated this famous Nordin, who multiplied his operations from 200 to 750 kg, making him a big cocaine player.

He faced a five-year prison sentence for drug trafficking when he went into exile in the Emirates. “Dikke Nordin” was arrested in Dubai in 2020 on charges against him in Belgium: acts of violence, international drug trafficking, etc. But Emirati police released him on generous bail. Baron escapes Belgian justice again.

A year later, a major raid in Belgium broke up an organization of about fifty individuals with Nordin identified as the mastermind. His gang is involved in cocaine trafficking, illegal arms trafficking and planning grenade attacks. The fugitive faces a maximum sentence of fifteen years in prison. Dubai police re-arrested him and Brussels negotiated his extradition.

A legal deal was struck on March 7: Antwerp drug lord Nordin El Hajjioui will be extradited to Belgium to stand trial for his crimes.
