The new 100 and 200 dirham notes from Bank Al-Maghrib (BAM) are causing an international sensation and were presented during the 2024 edition of the “Regional Banknote and ID Documents Awards”
The new 100 and 200 dirham banknotes were named the best new banknotes in the Europe, Middle East and Africa region at the 2024 edition of the “Regional Banknote and ID Document Awards”, held during the Regional High Security Printing forum at the beginning of March in Sofia, Bulgaria.
This award recognizes the design, technical sophistication and security features of the two banknotes, as well as their representation of Morocco’s cultural heritage.
In addition, these new banknotes incorporate the most advanced technologies in terms of security elements, such as the security thread with three-dimensional dynamic effect, the color-changing magnetic ink, the front/back marking pattern, the visually impaired patterns with visible relief, microtexts and progressive character typography.
All phases of the design and production of the new series of banknotes and coins were carried out exclusively by Moroccan skills operating within Dar As-Sikkah.
