Industrial Acceleration: Deciphering Performance and Trends for 2023

The 2023 edition of the industrial survey ‘Moroccan Industry Barometer’, presented by the Minister of Industry and Trade, Ryad Mezzour, highlighted several important trends.

The industrial sector recorded impressive economic performance, with record sales of 801.5 billion dirhams (billion dirhams) in 2022, indicating significant growth. Moreover, investments amounted to MAD 33.9 billion, reflecting companies’ confidence in the market and their drive for expansion. Exports also played a crucial role and represented 46% of total sales, demonstrating the competitiveness of the Moroccan industry in the global market.

In addition to these economic successes, the industrial sector has also contributed significantly to job creation, with 70,329 new jobs in 2022, a significant share of which will be occupied by women. This employment growth was supported by sectoral diversification, with sectors such as aerospace, automotive and textiles recording double-digit growth. Moreover, the detailed analysis of the structure of social capital reveals a strong presence of national capital, representing more than 71% of the total, highlighting the robustness of the local industrial sector.

This comprehensive survey, conducted among more than 10,000 companies in 16 industrial sectors and 12 regions, provides a global vision of Morocco’s industrial dynamics. It highlights the sector’s strengths and opportunities and identifies potential challenges and areas requiring particular attention. By adopting an analytical and data-driven approach, government and industry players can better understand market trends and develop effective policies and strategies to further drive the growth and development of Moroccan industry.
