A productive winter for pole athletes!

Nouvelle-Aquitaine gathers three training centers (Talence, Poitiers and Limoges), consisting of 69 athletes, including 31 in Pole Espoirs, and 38 in the regional training center. These athletes returned with 13 medals from the various French championships this winter, and recorded 26 personal bests.

There are even athletes from outside the region who come to seek the expertise of our coaches. Like Solène Giquel (Stade Rennais) who was crowned French elite high jump champion this winter. In Poitiers, she can count on emulation with other high-level jumpers, such as Sébastien Michaud (SBAC) or Saad Hammouda (EPA86), who has just taken the Moroccan high jump record with a jump of 2m22, before taking the money during the African Games. Note also in this high jump group: the presence of the young Alix Petit (EPA86), who finished at the foot of the France Espoir podium.

Between two jumps, Ludovic Martin’s jumpers still have to keep an eye on Nathan Proust’s javelin (Stade Niortais), which he threw at 69m57 this winter. Title as vice-champion in France hoping to win for the student of Luc Duquerroy. In the middle of all these beautiful people, a young athlete appears this year who was number 5 in the French cadet championship in length. His name is Léopold Launay-Querre. And he crosses swords in training with the bronze winner of these French cadet championships, Benjamin Becker (EPA86), with 7m06.

Patricia Bourguignon’s walking group in Talence includes several aspiring walkers, including Anouk Calas, 5th in the French indoor cadet class. The ALTEA member trains in particular Capucine Landron (CA Beglais), 5th in France junior over 3000m, Alicia Ziat (G2A), 7th in France junior, and Marie Wroblewski, 8th in the same France junior (US Talence).

A pure product of the region, Raphaël Le Glas (US Saintes Athlétisme) reached a milestone this year, becoming French hopeful pole vault champion, clearing 5m45 for Théo Gaboreau’s protégé in Talence. Behind him, Jules Courel (Ca Brive) is already ready to take over, with a bronze medal won last winter in the French Cadet Championships, and a jump of 5m15. In ambush, Danik Kovanov (US Talence) is poised to cross the 5m mark, still 10cm to gain for him compared to this winter. The same applies to Simon Mainil (Amiens UC), who came from the north of France with this goal in mind.

With a university center right next door, the Talençais training center can also rely on talented athletes in other disciplines. Like Axelle Estevez (Us Talence), 3rd France cadet over 60m hurdles.

It is in Limoges that we can see the promising Clémence Rougier (Limoges Athlé) training. She who, unsurprisingly, took the title of French junior champion in pole vaulting, beating her training friend Fanny Nsia Nsia (SCA 2000 Evry). The Limougeaude hunk almost got a double whammy by also winning the elite title. It might happen this summer for her, who has already jumped twice at 13m72. His training partner, Jeannine Assani-Issouf (Limoges Athlé) will also be a contender for the title. She is gradually getting back into shape. His 5th place in the elite this winter testifies to this. Also note the presence of a young man in this group, with Youn Le Rest (Stade Brestois) winning bronze at the French Junior Championships this winter, with 14m77.

But it’s not just triple jumpers in Limoges. A proof of this is with Alexis Lavaud (Limoges Athlé) who was crowned vice-champion in France who hopes for 800 metres. There are also sprinters, with Rejeane Hamon (Limoges Athlé), 6th in the French junior championships over 60m hurdles. 6th place also for another Hamon, namely Louis-Victor. But it was in hope, and on a triple jump this time. The Limoges pole also welcomes Corrézien Paul Metayer (Limoges Athlé) who took second place in the French elite championship this winter. Further increase the high jump density in the region.
