The MP’s appointment was confirmed on Wednesday during a meeting of the parliamentary group, a reliable source confirmed.
He succeeds the leader of the Istiqlalien deputies, Noureddine Moudian, of whom he will act as interim member.
Remember, Moudian suspended his presidency for reasons related to a lawsuit. This decision was announced in an official party statement.
Omar Hjira was already vice president of the group before taking charge.
The new head of the Istiqlal deputy, born in 1967, has been in the Senate for several terms. He is a deputy for the Oujda-Angad constituency. He is also a member of the Education, Culture and Communication committee.
