historical occupancy rates in eastern townships

Here’s what she had to say late Thursday afternoon about conservative benefit estimates.

Of the approximately 55,000 visitors, a number expected to increase, according to TCE, 25% come from outside Quebec, particularly from the United States and Ontario.

This couple traveled from Boston to see the eclipse in Mont-Mégantic National Park.

Americans had a particularly strong presence in the region’s residential areas.

TCE also notes a high proportion of visitors from France, the Netherlands, Germany, Switzerland and Western Canada.

Almost all hotels and lodges were fully booked the weekend leading up to the eclipse. Average occupancy in April is typically between 31% and 40%.

Tourism in the Eastern Townships is based on a survey of more than 70 businesses and viewpoints. The portrait also takes into account traffic data from Propulso, Magog’s cellular geolocation company.

About 3,000 people were expected at the University of Sherbrooke. There were about fifty observation posts in the region.

Exceptional weather

“Both in terms of the quantity and quality of the facilities organized, from the favorable weather to the mobilization of the tourism industry, we can only be pleased. Added to this is the very enthusiastic reaction of many visitors who took the opportunity to discover the Eastern Townships,” emphasizes Isabelle Charlebois, CEO of TCE, in a press release.

The region benefited from exceptional… and unexpected weather. The eastern towns defied the forecasts as southern Quebec had a 60% to 80% chance of having cloudy skies on April 8, according to data from the last 25 years.

As a result, over the past year, more than 1,500 publications have mentioned the astronomical phenomenon in the region, especially in traditional media. TCE’s page hosted on its website generated approximately 65,000 web sessions over a three-month period.

Let us remember that about fifty observation sites were organized throughout the region, bringing together about 60 thousand people.
