Iran warns Israel against attacking its nuclear sites – Telquel.ma

SIf the Zionist regime wants to take action against our nuclear centers and facilities, it will certainly face our reaction. For a counterattack, the regime’s nuclear facilities will be targeted with advanced weapons“, warned General Ahmad Haghtalab, head of the nuclear security department within the Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), as quoted by the official IRNA agency.

Israel has announced that it is reserving “the right to protect oneself” against Iran after an Iranian attack, carried out with more than 350 drones and missiles launched towards Israel, almost all of which were intercepted in flight. But he did not give information about the means, date and objectives of the possible operation.

General Haghtalab clarified that “nuclear centers of the Zionist enemy“were”identified” and that Tehran had “necessary information on all objectives“. “Hands are on the trigger to fire powerful projectiles for total destruction of established targets“, he warned, according to Irna.

Israel accuses Iran – which it denies – of wanting to acquire an atomic bomb and says it is doing all it can to prevent it. For its part, Israel is considered a nuclear power, but has never confirmed or denied its ability to use the atom for military purposes.

General Haghtalab clarified that Iran could reconsider its “nuclear doctrine” and “statements from the past” who claim that its nuclear program was developed for civilian purposes. Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei claimed in the 2000s that Iran “is notnot in search of an atomic bomb“, because “Islam does not allow us to do that“.

But the United States and other Western countries believe the continued expansion of the program demonstrates its military goals. In 2018, former President Donald Trump withdrew the United States from an international agreement reached three years earlier that included curbs on Iran’s nuclear program and reimposed tough sanctions on Tehran. In response, Iran gradually released itself from its obligations dictated by this pact. Negotiations on its revival are currently at a standstill.

Known Iranian nuclear sites are located especially in the center, in Isfahan, Natanz or Ford, as well as in the port city of Bushehr, where the only nuclear power plant is located.

The head of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Rafael Grossi, said on Monday that Iran had shut down its nuclear facilities “For security reasons” on the day of his attack on Israel.

Another senior Iranian officer said Thursday that his country only used “old weapons and minimal power” for his attack last weekend. “We have overcome the maximum capacity of the Hebrew and Western camps with minimal strength at this time“said General Ali Hajizadeh, commander of the IRGC’s aerospace forces, who led the operation. “At this stage we did not use the Khorramshahr, Sajil, Haj Qasem, Kheibar and Hypersonic II missiles“, he explained.

Iran has so far not specified the number of drones and ballistic missiles fired at Israel or their type.
