Proven presence of Listeria

These two cheeses are being recalled due to the confirmed presence of listeria, a bacteria that can cause listeriosis, a fairly serious foodborne infection.

Its symptoms are fever, headache and body aches. The incubation period can last up to eight weeks. In some cases, this can cause neurological complications. Pregnant women, older adults, and people with weakened immune systems are especially at risk of complications.

“Sometimes severe forms can occur with neurological complications and damage to the mother or fetus in pregnant women,” says Rappel Konso.

Return the item for a refund

To avoid developing this foodborne infection, Rappel Konso advises people who have consumed it to consult a doctor.

“People who have consumed the products mentioned above and experience a fever, either isolated or accompanied by headaches and body aches, are encouraged to consult their doctor and report their consumption,” the site states.

People who have one of the products are also encouraged to return it to the store for a refund. Additional information can be obtained by contacting customer service on 0800.801.287.

The end of the two recall procedures is scheduled for April 23.
