ADHD, the 4 letters we’re hearing about more and more. We suspect it is an acronym, one of those acronyms whose general idea we think we understand without knowing exactly what it is about.
To explain, it is attention deficit disorder with or without hyperactivity, which is defined by a combination of attention deficit, motor hyperactivity and impulsivity. This neurodevelopmental disorder often appears in childhood, and its causes are still unknown. This represents real harm to the injured child and his family. In France, it is estimated that 5% of children suffer from ADHD. Therefore, it is very important to understand ADHD and know how to control it.
This is why the association Dys Indigo ADHD was created in Fleury d’Aude with the aim of helping parents, teachers, AESH, Atsem, coordinators and even ADHD health professionals who are in contact or may be in contact with children suffering from this condition. a syndrome that is often difficult to cope with, helping them to better understand and understand ADHD.
The initiators of this approach are Marie-Pascale Laurent and Xavier Chacon, who are directly affected by this problem, since the couple are the parents of two children, 11 and 13 years old, suffering from ADHD. They naturally came up with the idea of offering families an opportunity to talk about this topic, which is not always easy to approach, and develop strategies to allow the child to thrive despite the disease.
First meeting this Monday
The first meeting will be organized Monday, April 22, in the presence of Marianne Tennessel, a clinical psychologist with experience in the field of ADHD. To provide regular support for families, health professionals or teachers, meetings will continue at one meeting per month.
