The “mobile chat” collects the voices of the citizens of Saint-Florent

It rolls, it rolls. Installed in their rosalie, the volunteers, members and teams of the socio-cultural center (CSC) in Chemins-Blancs, in Saint-Florent and Goise, in Niort explore the streets of their neighborhood with pedals. Decorated with wreaths, flags and medallions, emblazoned with a ‘Papote mobile’ sign, the four-wheeler and drivers set off to meet residents to collect their words, aided by insulated coffee glasses and tins of cookies.

“We decided to work sound-wise”

This initiative is part of the process of renewing the application for approval from Caf for the period 2025-2028. In this context, the center must establish a diagnosis of the territory in a written document. “Beyond the written document, we decided to work properly based on interviews and exchanges, summarizes Stéphanie Kerdoncuff, the director of CSC. The final idea is to be able to edit it in an audio format, like a podcast. »

This approach “to go towards” first led the members to organized activities, pétanque tournaments or tarot clubs, but also schools and colleges, at the beginning of April. “We try to capture the wishes and feelings of the citizens. Sometimes we meet people who don’t know about CSC! »smiles Roselyne, one of the administrators. “We realize the richness of relationships that the tarot brings to some people, it helps them maintain social ties with people who can be very different”adds another admin.

Financial concerns

Since mid-April, volunteers have been roaming the streets behind the wheel of their somewhat original vehicles. “It also allows us to understand the public space better. We realize that there are fewer and fewer children or the elderly on the streets because of the traffic”emphasize the administrators.

Office hours are also planned in shops and at bus stops. And already, the first observations are there. “We know that the financial question is raised more this year than four years ago, during our last diagnosis, says Stéphanie Kerdoncuff. There is also more desire for exchanges, for positive moments. »

Ultimately, this diagnosis will also help guide the centre’s future actions. “For example, the most recent goals were to work on listening, the fight against isolation or even parenting”, emphasizes the director. The Rosalie will circulate in the neighborhood until May. And it’s impossible to miss!
