Exploration Trip: Seven Professionals Discover the Coaticook Region

COATICOOK. Seven professionals and their families took part in a study tour last weekend (March 30-31) to discover all aspects of the Coaticook MRC and ultimately come and live there.

The event, organized by Place aux Jeunes Coaticook, was attended by people from Algeria, Cameroon and Iran who have settled in Montreal for less than two years. “They fell in love with our region,” admits agent Michael Jacques. This closeness to nature, countryside and landscapes captivated them. »

Among the stops on the trip, we note stops at the Rancho Saint-Hubert Lodge in Saint-Hermenegilde and at the Orange Divan, where it was possible to meet with several elected officials, including Coaticouk MRC Prefect Bernard Marion and Saint-Francois MP Geneviève Hebert.

The agenda also included testimony from Anouk Caron from Rustik Bison and Mathieu Lavoie, a former participant in research trips. The latter now runs a youth hostel in the Stanhope sector.

This stay also included an Easter coconut hunt as well as a sugar shack dinner at Érablière Chez Grand-M’man in Saint-Hermenegilde.

Place aux Jeunes is supported by Carrefour Coaticook in the region. It promotes the attraction, integration and retention of qualified youth aged 18 to 35 in the region.
