Artificial intelligence and “instant art” are at the heart of an exhibition at Maison Relin

Until Saturday, April 27In the Fayette Room of Maison Relin, the Society of Fine Arts presents an exhibition on “instant art”. Term Summoned Specifies the instructions the user must enter to get a result from the artificial intelligence (AI).

“Here, the authors of these images provided information about what they wanted to see to a specialized site, and it is this site, on the basis of these instructions, that will create the images.”explains Joel Bobin, president of the Fine Arts Society.

Real creations

The works were created as part of photography workshops led by Mark de Freitas. “I don’t have drawing skills but I have a photographer’s eye. Thanks to artificial intelligence, I can express my imagination.”“, explains the latter.

“Once we find the view, we can build the character. This never happens the first time. We can be satisfied with the first image created, and then realize that there are mistakes. You have to be precise and repeat yourself.”

There is a heated debate about whether creating artificial intelligence can be considered art or not. For some, it lacks reality and body. For Joel Bobin, the question goes back to the beginnings of photography, which attracted nothing but scorn in the 1830s. “Technical landing”.

“Our exhibition, certainly the first of its kind in all of Occitania, highlights the works of five creators. Each of them has produced an image that transforms reality according to their own vision. For this reason, without any pretense or fixed idea, I am talking about true creation.”

If the public is convinced, the Fine Arts Association could consider offering this major in upcoming workshops at the beginning of the academic year.
