Doubles for Belgian Thibau Nys – rts.ch

Thibau Nys won the 2nd stage of the Tour de Romandie between Fribourg and Salvan / Les Marécottes (171 kilometers). The 21-year-old Belgian also donned the leader’s yellow jersey.

The rider from the Lidl-Trek team thus signed his first World Tour success. This cyclocross specialist is the son of Sven Nys, former world champion in the specialty. He achieved a superb performance since he spent the whole day at the front, because he was part of today’s breakaway that formed shortly after the departure from Friborg.

At the end of the 171 km, Nys sprinted ahead of the Italian Andrea Vendrame, already number two the day before. Australian Lucas Plapp took third place, 4 seconds behind. Juras Yanis Voisard was the best Swiss with 17th place, 16 seconds behind the winner.

Overall, Nys leads Vendrame by 4 seconds and Plapp by 22 seconds. Voisard is 8th in 29 seconds. Jan Christen, on the other hand, takes 25th place in 41 seconds. On Friday, the 3rd stage will be a 15.5 km time trial in Oron.
