The Grand Mâchon du LOU returns on June 1, with four best workers in France

The 5th edition of the Grand Mâchon du LOU takes place on Saturday 1 June at the Matmut Stadium in Gerland. 1500 people are expected for this event.

Lobster balls with champagne sauce, chicken in vinegar, Saint-Marcellin de la Mère Richard… Le Grand Mâchon du LOU is back next Saturday 1 June at the Matmut Stadium in Gerland. 1,500 people are expected for this 5th edition.

“This year it will probably be better than Taylor Swift. The box office risks exploding in a few minutes,” promises Maxime Caminale, organizer of the Grand Mâchon du LOU.

“Four best workers in France” present

On the program for this 5th edition of the Grand Mâchon du LOU, “an exceptional line-up”, according to Maxime Caminale, the organizer.

“This year, four best workers in France will offer wonderful dishes from Lyon’s culinary heritage during this 5th edition that promises to be exceptional, but always in this conviviality, this sharing and this generosity”, he explains.

In detail, the Lyon chefs are the two head chefs at Auberge de Collonge Paul-Bocuse, Olivier Couvin and Gilles Reinhardt, as well as Christian Têtedoie and Jean-Paul Pignol.

As for the menu, the Lyon chefs cook lobster balls with champagne sauce as a starter, followed by chicken in vinegar, Saint-Marcellin from Mère Richard and to finish the famous Scottish tart from Jean-Paul Pignol. “It will be a magical moment,” breathes Maxime Caminale.

The latter also thanks the 150 volunteers who serve 1,500 dishes in “record time”.

The profit donated to two associations

All profits from this 5th Grand Mâchon du LOU will be donated to Docteur Clown and the 111 des arts associations. To be designated this Grand Mâchon is a privilege for these associations.

“It is extremely important, we can only thank the organizers,” explains Nadia Alibay, president of the Docteur Clown association.

She adds: “From a budgetary point of view, for these 15,000 children in the region, because it’s these our 18 clowns visit every year, for us it’s really an outstretched hand that’s huge.”

The same observation for Hedwige Moyne, communications manager of the association 111 des Arts, who thanks Grand Mâchon. “It is an extraordinary opportunity to eat well and do a good deed. Thank you for giving us this opportunity to promote this association whose only goal is children and artists from Lyon and abroad,” she declared.

Another surprise of this edition, a painter will be present to paint a canvas that will be sold at the end of the event.

Grand Mâchon could still see ambitions rising. The organizer has set himself the challenge of being included in UNESCO’s intangible cultural heritage. In the meantime, the box office for this 5th edition opens this Friday at noon, the meal is priced at 32 euros.
