12 murals are forming in various neighborhoods – Morocco Today

Since April 18, under the eyes of Rabatians, 12 new murals have been taking shape in various neighborhoods of Rabat as part of the ninth edition of the Rabat Wall Street Art Festival.

“Their works are abstract, graphic or hyper-realistic, and sit at the crossroads of cultures. Like Kaori Izumiya’s fresco, which connects its Japanese roots with Moroccan influences. From wall to wall, we admire the ‘precision of the face, and enjoy guessing how Kartilović’s enormous flat areas of color will develop,’ We identify Moroccan symbols, such as the hamsa by Alexis Diaz, or the dove idol by Hossam El Ghelal, in reference to his “original Tetouan” works. He added that at the same time, “dozens of young artists began working within the collective wall.”

Following in the footsteps of their elders who cut their teeth in this experimental laboratory, the aspiring muralists set out this year under the auspices of two great figures of national street art: Ed Honor and Pasek to attempt to run an “art-world synthesis.” Graffiti and drawing.

Meanwhile, Spanish artist Txemi is putting the finishing touches on small works for his solo show scheduled from April 23 to May 5 at Atelier Ambigu. During the opening, composer Birdie Rominger will present a sound installation echoing his works. This exhibition is part of the “OUT/IN STREET ART” project led by Taksimi.
