Jewelry exhibition at the Italian Theater

The Italian Theater hosted a wonderful jewelry exhibition under the slogan “Italian Jewelry Without Borders,” in the first part of the evening, which was marked by a concert performed by the artist Laila Al-Habash.

As part of the promotional activities of “Made in Italy”, this event did not leave indifferent jewelry lovers with a special design demonstrating know-how recognized throughout the world.

Many of them came to admire a sample of the very inspiring jewelery creations, which were presented on the occasion of the 2024 edition of Italian Design Day (IDD).

Italy is the second supplier of jewelry to Morocco after Turkey, with a market share of 23%, and Italy remains the Kingdom’s main supplier of gold processing techniques and equipment.

It is noteworthy that it is one of the five largest jewelry exporting countries in the world, with the volume of its exports amounting to more than 10 billion euros, according to data related to the year 2023.

The exhibition, organized by the Consulate General of Italy and the Italian Foreign Trade Agency (ITA), allowed us to learn more about the origins of Italian goldsmithing that was already practiced in the Etruscan era.

In fact, “at that time, we used techniques that are still popular today, such as granulation, that is, the use of small grains of gold in jewelry decorations,” states a publicly available document.

The characteristics that made Italian goldsmithing an internationally recognized distinction are numerous, confirming the same source that notes that the post-war period was a major challenge for all sectors. “However, the gold industry managed to completely overcome it: in fact, at this historical moment, the names and brands of high-end Italian goldsmiths established themselves and the gold areas experienced their greatest development.”

Then, around the 1980s, after the influence of Pop Art, we saw a real explosion of “Made in Italy”, especially in the luxury sector.
