Meg Vipul Thakkar received the Antidote scholarship

University of Montreal and Mila (Quebec Institute of Artificial Intelligence) Department of Computer Science and Operations Research (DIRO) Master’s student Meg Vipul Thakkar is the winner of the eighth Antidote Scholarship in Automatic Language Processing, worth US$20,000. .

This scholarship is awarded annually to a DIRO student whose studies relate to Mila. It is funded by the Druide Fund for Research in Text Mining, created through a donation from Druide Computing to the University of Montreal. Druide Informatique is a company specializing in linguistic artificial intelligence since 1993, particularly known for its flagship product Antidote, the first software to assist writing in French and English.

Meg Vipul Thakkar’s research focuses on the development of large-scale language models, artificial intelligence systems designed to understand and generate human language in a consistent and contextual manner. His work aims to create more loyal, caring and impartial virtual assistants that are able to interact with other models or agents. In addition, he strives to make his research more accessible using less resource-intensive methods.

Before completing her master’s degree at the University of Montreal, Meg Vipul Thakkar worked with Google Research in India and served as a research scientist at a joint laboratory between Nanyang Technological University and Alibaba in Singapore.
