Video. Housing assistance: 110,000 families are targeted every year, the transparent system

The new housing assistance program, which was presented to King Mohammed VI in October 2023 and officially launched last January, is receiving great enthusiasm. During an interview with Al Oula and 2M, dedicated to the government’s mid-term review, Aziz Akhannouch indicated that on 1^uh In April, approximately 60,976 requests were registered on the “Daam Sakan” platform, of which 90% were eligible. The head of government recalled that this program mobilizes an annual budget of about 9 billion dirhams, and the state can cover up to a third of the purchase price of housing. In total, the number of families that will benefit from the housing assistance program is 330,000 families in the period 2024-2026, a target of 110,000 per year.

Aziz Akhannouch also assured that the system works in a “completely transparent” manner, especially regarding the eligibility criteria. “There is no need for a phone call…,” he noted, adding that all procedures are carried out on the online platform intended for this purpose.

Asked about possible price increases applied by certain developers, especially on homes costing 300,000 dirhams in major cities such as Casablanca and Rabat, the head of government dismissed this hypothesis. “The market prices are known to everyone,” he said on the subject, especially because the promoters play the game.

Moreover, he added that in certain parts of the Kingdom, for example in Er-Rich or Zagora, the purchase price will be less than 300,000 dirhams. “In these regions, citizens will be able to buy their house for 250,000 euros; or even 200,000 dirhams.” In this scenario, Akhannouch explains, the state’s contribution to this takeover will be 50%! “It is very positive for these developing areas.”

One of the strengths of this program is that it establishes a direct relationship with the citizen, the head of government emphasized: “The check is handed over directly to the citizen, in his name, through a notary.”

Remember that the Housing Assistance Program provides support of Dirham 100,000 for the purchase of housing whose sales price is less than or equal to Dh300,000 including tax, and support of Dirham 70,000 for the purchase of accommodation between Dh300,000 and Dh700,000 including tax.
