9.5% production increase at the end of February

This performance is due to the positive evolution of private production (+9.8%) and that of renewable energies related to Law 13-09 (+61.3%), according to the DEPF in its recent economic note.

As for the National Office of Water and Electricity (ONEE) production, it continues to decline (-4.5% at the end of February 2024, after -7% at the end of February 2023), the DEPF said.

In terms of trade in the electric power sector with the outside world, the volume of imports fell 36.2% at the end of the first two months of 2024, after rising 183% a year earlier, the same source said.

The exported volume increased by 146.7% (after -67.2%) and this in a context of an increase in the volume of net energy called up by 5.5% (after +2%).

Electrical energy consumption increased by 1.1% at the end of February 2024, after an increase of 4.7% last year.

This increase is due to the increase in energy sales addressed to distributors by 4.3% and those of low voltage by 3.5%, despite the decrease of 4.9% in energy sales of “very high, high and medium voltage, excluding distributors.
