ESA reports incredible discovery

D“Spiders on Mars”? This expression was used by the European Space Agency (ESA) in a recent press release when dark star forms were photographed in the polar region south of the planet Mars. Rest assured, this is actually an optical illusion caused by a mixture of dust and ice cracks.

Discussed? Climate phenomenon. Sunlight turns carbon dioxide ice into a gas that builds up and explodes in the Martian spring. As a result, dust and sand turn into giant fountains that fall onto the planet, creating dark, spidery spots.

Scientists say that each of them is actually a gas crack on the surface.

The phenomenon of pareidolia

The discovery was made possible thanks to data collected by ESA’s ExoMars Breed gas orbiter. He took the photos in the south polar region of the Red Planet, TF1 reports.

The sizes of each shape vary from 45 meters to 1 kilometer in diameter. When some observers think they see spiders or even animals, it is actually due to the phenomenon of pareidolia. These visual illusions often occur when looking at stars or ordinary objects. They arise from our brain’s innate tendency to attribute to itself […] Read more
