We often talk about shoes that help you run faster. Here’s something like a leg strap that can theoretically double your running speed. Assistance comparable to electric bicycles.

You’ll soon be able to increase your productivity and reduce fatigue with a motorized suspension weighing less than 2 kg. Attached to the waist and supporting the hips, motors help the legs move during stride. By cutting the effort in half, they allow you to increase your speed when you need to walk, run or climb stairs. This is the principle of exoskeletons.

Until now, they have been used more to reduce fatigue at work or to help paraplegics walk. Now manufacturers such as Dnsys and Hypershell also offer them for leisure use. That’s why we see models designed for hiking or trail running. This will allow those who get tired easily to keep up with their friends who run regularly.

Widely available and affordable version.

This version is much more affordable in terms of price. When we talked about motorized exoskeletons, prices skyrocketed to 10,000, 20,000, 100,000 euros. But the leisure models cost around 400, 500, 900 euros at the top of the range. Some offer a “boost” option that allows you to run for a few minutes at 27 km/h, which is faster than an electric bike, which is limited to 25 km/h. So, to go to work in the morning, instead of riding your bike, you will just need to put on the exoskeleton and you will arrive almost as quickly! The autonomy of these devices is about thirty kilometers when walking and about fifteen minutes in the afterburner mode.

All this remains theoretical. These devices won’t be available for another five or six months. Therefore, they must keep their promises both in terms of performance and comfort. But perhaps one day we will have a range of exoskeletons available for both sports, leisure and work. We might even end up renting them from DIY stores when we move house, for example. For example, today we rent a van or a grinder.
