The United States and Mexico have withdrawn their joint bid to host the 2027 Women’s World Cup, preferring to focus on 2031, the two confederations announced on Monday.

In a joint press release, those who will organize the men’s World Cup with Canada in 2026 explain that this decision will allow them to better prepare for the 2031 edition.

This deferred candidacy will allow U.S. Soccer to build on the experience and success of the 2026 World Cup, to better assist the host cities, expand our contracts with sponsors and media, and better rally supporters to organize a record edition in 2031we can read in the press release.

FIFA will vote on the award of the 2027 Women’s World Cup in two weeks at its congress in Bangkok.

Two files remain on the table, namely the joint candidacy of Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands and Brazil.
