Vision Pro helmets have a serious discount on eBay

On the classified ads and auction platform, Apple’s mixed reality headset has fallen victim to consumer disinterest.

After a high-profile launch highlighted by Tim Cook, is the Vision Pro going through a diet period? That’s exactly what auction and classifieds site eBay is offering, with a significant discount on a headset released last February. Evidence of the beginning of a lack of consumer interest?

Officially selling from $3,499 (before taxes), the Apple Vision Pro still requires a few weeks of waiting before you can afford it. Due to the lack of inventory, a parallel market has come to market, with prices often bordering on the ridiculous, at least when it initially launched last February.

Falling prices on the parallel market

But this period ended and the bellows fell (a little). As The Verge noted, “Mint” models—in other words, already open, but new and complete—are selling today at normal prices or even below the official price.

That’s the case with this announcement, which is for a 1TB model (sold by Apple for $3,899) that has finally found a buyer after 21 auctions for $3,200, although it does have an Apple Care+ contract and a shared carrying case the amount of 5000 dollars. at the new price.

Another This time we’re talking about the 256GB model, which has finally been listed in a single auction for just $2,600. Overall, the Apple Vision Pro can be found on eBay for under $3,800.

eBay isn’t the only platform to benefit from this discount, as Swappa’s helmet prices are melting like snow in the sun. There’s relatively little advertising, but it’s not at crazy prices – the 256GB model sells for $2,400, while the 512GB model is offered for around $2,800. Not enough to make a profit, even though the device was only available in the US for three months.

How can we explain this slight lack of consumer interest? Probably because they are waiting for the first big update of Vision Pro, expected in June, and Apple announcements in this direction. Moreover, in an inflationary environment, and even if in the US the situation in this segment is far from catastrophic, headphones require certain investments that potential buyers are clearly not sure whether they can recoup.

In France, where the headset is not officially available, it is offered on sites like Rakuten and again heavily advertised – with third-party sellers clearly not finding buyers. But import is carried out at your own peril and risk, especially in the case of service, but not only.
