The project focuses on the valorization of non-ferrous metal scrapespecially copper and aluminum, with a policy aimed at conservation of the environment and the development of the circular economy.
It represents a first step towards the country’s self-sufficiency in these types of products and aims to meet the needs of the national market, thereby supply chain nationally to the sectors of car and electric.
With a total amount of 95 million dirhams, this project allowed the creation of 110 new dirhams direct jobs and generating an additional turnover of more than 700 million dirhams. It’s part of the investment agreement signed between the state and society ALUCOPin November 2020, the result of the implementation of the performance contract Ecosystems of the sector Metallurgical and mechanical industriessigned on May 2, 2016.
On this occasion, Mr. Mezzour underlines: “With today’s inauguration of the new industrial division of the Alucop company, we are celebrating an event of paramount importance for Moroccan industry. It is also an exceptional moment in the economic development of society, reflecting a royal vision that aims to make the emergence of a new green economy a real source of growth and dynamism.” And added: “Promoting a circular economy and developing waste recovery sectors are essential for our country’s successful transition to a green economy creating wealth and employment, guaranteeing the Kingdom’s sovereignty over critical natural resources, and enhancing the attractiveness of our territories…”.
The new industrial unit of the Alucop company has several production lines that enable production production of copper anodes with an annual capacity of 5,000 tons, copper wire rod with an annual capacity of 4,000 tons, copper billet with an annual capacity of 2,500 tons, brass billet of 12,000 tons and aluminum billet of 5,000 tons, brass bars with an annual capacity of 12,000 tons And aluminum blocks with an annual capacity of 20,000 tons.
