Nearly three months after the launch of generative artificial intelligence (AI) Gemini in Canada, Google is rolling out new features in French, including extensions for its services (Maps, Gmail, YouTube, Docs, etc.) and a mobile app.
Gemini extensions allow you to receive information in real time from Gmail, Docs, Maps, YouTube and other services. According to the web giant, such integration could be useful, for example, for planning a group trip.

You can ask Gemini to get dates from Gmail that work for everyone, find flight and hotel information based on those dates and location, find YouTube videos on what to pack, and summarize the preparation list mentioned in that video, and that’s it this is in one conversation.
explains Jules Walter, Google Product Manager, in a blog post.
You always have control over your privacy settings when deciding how to use these extensions, and you can disable them at any time.
The feature launched in Canada in February, at the same time as Gemini, but only in English. It is now also offered in the Tremblay language.
Mobile app
From Tuesday afternoon, Internet users can also make inquiries viaAI Gemini via a mobile app or via Google Assistant, with which you can, among other things, issue voice commands to smart home devices. Until now, access was only possible through a browser at gemini.google.com.
Using Gemini on your phone, you can type, speak, or add pictures to get a variety of help. You can take a photo of the flat tire and ask for directions or ask for help writing a thank-you note.
Apple device owners will be able to access in the coming weeks
to Gemini from the Google app by clicking the new Gemini button.
On Android devices, the integration is more seamless: you download the Gemini app from the Google Play Store. Some devices (Google hasn’t specified which ones) offer access toAI generatively directly on the power button (the one that activates the phone), or by swiping on the upper right corner of the screen in the control center.
This will give you a new overlay interface that will allow you to easily access Gemini and get contextual help right on the screen.
– explains Jules Walter.
ToolAI can also be invoked on Android devices by saying Hello Google
. Gemini’s other voice functions include setting timers, making calls, and controlling smart home equipment. Our goal is to offer even more options in the future.

The app has already been available in other countries around the world, including the US, since February. It runs from Tuesday afternoon in Canada and in French.
And one more small addition: you can also call Gemini from the Google search bar by entering @Twins
followed by a request.
Features are long overdue
Google hasn’t provided any details about whether the Gemini image generator will soon be offered in French. For now, Internet users will have to be content with asking questions in the language of Shakespeare.
We also don’t know when the integration will happenAI into spreadsheets, presentations, documents, Gmail, etc. Google’s module, formerly called Duet AI, will be offered in Canada and in French.
The announcement comes just days after the launch of Meta AI, Meta’s open-access consumer generative AI. Offered in key places such as the search bar, Instagram, Facebook, Messenger and WhatsApp apps visited by half the planet, the giant is becoming a major competitor.
