French designer Joan Saffar signs “We Shall Live: An Investigation into the Future of the Jews” (ed. Aren), a multi-voiced book written with urgency, after the Hamas massacre in Israel, October 7, 2023. A graphic novel that mixes the unbearable, the humorous and the absurd.
“The secular and republican shield that protects all minorities has collapsed” in France, explains cartoonist Joan Svar. “There was a 1,000% increase in attacks against Jews in France after October 7, and even before the Israeli response (…) Jews are going through hell in France. I didn’t think I would experience this in my life.”
