The stage presented by the Tour de Bretagne organization as “the queen stage of this 57th edition” promised movement.

The long ribbon (192.5 km) drawn from Saint-Onen-la-Chapelle to Louvigné-du-Désert included several delicate bumps, including four listed in the best climbing classification.

With additions a symbolic arrival in Louvigné, a town where it all began the Breton granite belt, in 1967.

We expected to the dispute for the victory on the stage (on the eve of the outcome in Dinan, Wednesday 1 May), but also perhaps explanations at the top of the general classification, six other men were in the same minute as the Swedish leader Jakob Söderqvist (Lidl-Trek Future racing).

In the end, it was the first option that won this Tuesday, April 30.

The ambition of Savino, the struggle of two Danes

As promised, the bumpy route up to the entrance to the final lap, 50km from the finish, made several runners nervous. The most enterprising was the Italian Federico Savino (Soudal Quick Step) who won all the points for best climber, and was alone in the lead at the top of Châtellier Coast.

Behind, seven men organized to come back, including Frenchman Rémi Lelandais (Arkéa B Hôtel). Finally, at the first crossing of the finish line and 50 km from the end, ten escapees reckoned that their 40 second lead over the peloton would go to the end.

IN five turns of the loop designed around Louvigné and La Bazouge-du-Désert, We then engaged in a series of attacks at the front which made it possible to maintain a small time capital (30 seconds ahead 24 km from the finish). It was unexpected sprint team which brought the platoon back on the breakaways.

In the last round, Danes Bak and Skot Hansen (Coloquick) attempted a poker move that looked like a last stand.

It was the two men who could have become today’s heroes caught up near the last kilometer.

All the way to the right of the bag

So space a massive sprint. A strange end to a turbulent stage, but a final that will have pleased the thousands of spectators welcomed by the town of Louvigné.

Satisfied, because it is the Breton runner Antonin Souchonfrom the VC Pays de Loudéac who burst out like a devil from his box, under the noses and helmets of the riders in the great formations.

The Loudéacian, who fell victim to a fall at the start of the stage, knew how to “catch the right wave” when the packaging was repaired.

“I was in a great position at the kilometre” described Antonin Souchon after the finish.

Well placed to the right of the sprint pack, today’s winner topped the winner of the previous day, Matys Grisel (Lotto Dstiny) and the Belgian Zeno Moonen (Wanty). Today’s ranking.

No change in the general classification.
