recruiting volunteers for two aerospace research projects

The engineering school in Toulouse (Haute-Garonne) is looking for volunteers to participate in two new studies. The first scientific experiment involves training the brain, and the second is aimed at determining the effect of body movements on driving performance.

Have you ever heard of neuroergonomics? Know that this is a discipline aimed at optimizing the brain’s environment and improving its performance. It is also a favorite area of research for about fifteen researchers from the Isae-Supaero Higher Institute of Aeronautics and Space.

The engineering school, located in Toulouse, regularly conducts research for applications in the aerospace sector. Goals: Design a smart cockpit, improve interactions between humans and robots, or even train your brain to be flexible.

The experiment is carried out over five consecutive sessions lasting from 45 minutes to one and a half hours. In this study, we aim to investigate the effects of different cognitive or auditory training on listening effort.indicates the institute in its call for volunteers. Listening effort is the effort we put into solving complex listening problems. For example, in a restaurant or in a crowd, you need to make more effort to hear your interlocutor than in a calm and quiet room.

During this experience, you will be assigned various tasks. And your brain signals will be recorded using electrodes placed on your head. The only criteria for participation are to be under 40 years of age, have no neurological history or hearing impairment, and French must be your native language.

Your participation will be paid up to 60 euros. To register, simply contact Caroline Hemery by email.

Take part in a virtual reality experience designed to measure the impact of body movements on your productivity and ability to perform remote operations.

You have to complete two tasks: one – vertical perception for five to ten minutes, the second – pilot a spaceship in virtual reality, while being placed on a movement platform. Your performance, errors and reaction times will be recorded for an hour. You will also be asked about your expected workload.

Registration criteria: age from 18 to 60 years, normal or corrected vision and no motion sickness. If you are interested, you can contact Maelis Lefebvre.

The experiments will take place at Isae-Supaéro, 10 Avenue Edouard Belin in Toulouse. We also note that on May 16 and 17, 2024, the institute will host an international conference of world-renowned scientists on the topic of cognitive assistance for pilots in the cockpits of the future thanks to artificial intelligence.
