The festival program was unveiled at the Grand Théâtre de Québec in the evening and was based on the same objectives in 7 cycles. The event offers Quebec culinary discoveries, knowledge presentations, thematic conferences on current topics and workshops of all kinds.

Party, affinity, participation

Families and lovers of music, culture and topics affecting indigenous peoples are invited to attend the meeting of the 11 indigenous nations in Quebec. “The goal is rapprochement, participation and awareness in a welcoming, festive environment. We extend our hand to all citizens. We offer a very diverse program with interactive activities. There is something for every taste!”, declared General Manager Melanie Vincent.

Dr. Stanley Volante, Innu medicine specialist, will give lectures on the Puamun Meshkenu initiative. Sterilization of indigenous women, the territorial guards issue, the Mamoitun Tribal Council issue, and the place of indigenous peoples in the news are some of the ideas that will be proposed.

The Chakapish Institute, based in Ochat-Sept-Iles, will take advantage of the opening of the Koi Festival to launch a website about myths and facts related to indigenous peoples.

Film screenings and a special evening will be dedicated to the 20th anniversary of Wapikoni Mobile, which has trained many directors in the North Shore’s Innu communities.
