Here’s the end date for traditional PCs, according to the firm – La Nouvelle Tribune

A few decades ago, the advent of personal computers ushered in a major revolution that radically changed the way we work, learn and communicate. Originally designed as a simple word processing and computing tool, the PC has evolved into the central hub of our digital lives, influencing sectors from education to manufacturing to personal entertainment. This transformation paved the way for countless technological innovations that continue to shape our daily lives.

According to a recent report from Canalis, a major evolution is looming on the horizon of computer technology. In six years, the market will be dominated by what we call AI PCcomputers are equipped not only with traditional CPU AND GPUbut also a neural processor (NPU). This add-on component is designed to solve AI problems more efficiently, thereby transforming the user experience.

The shift to artificial intelligence is already being felt through initiatives such as the upgrade Windows 11 24 hours a day is scheduled for September or October 2024, where artificial intelligence will be the focus. Microsoft plans to present AI Researcher, a tool designed to analyze and record user activity, enabling natural language interactions for more intuitive file and information discovery. However, this achievement raises important questions regarding privacy protection and data storage, local or online.

The Canalys report highlights the rapid and widespread adoption of AI-powered PCs and predicts that by 2030, these machines will represent the entire PC market. This forecast means the gradual disappearance of traditional PCs, replaced by more efficient devices that specialize in intelligent data processing.

This prediction may seem bold, especially considering the fact that at the moment NPUs are only integrated into some high-end processor models, such as Qualcomm Snapdragon. The democratization of this technology will happen gradually, and it remains to be seen whether NPU power will be standardized across all manufacturers or remain a high-end privilege.

The end of the traditional PC announced by Canalys is not just a technology prediction; this marks a potential turning point in our interaction with technology, with artificial intelligence becoming an important and ubiquitous component of our everyday computing hardware. How we approach privacy and data management in this new paradigm will be critical to the adoption and success of these future AI-enabled PCs.
