Banjul – In his capacity as the Chairman of the Al-Quds Committee, His Majesty King Mohammed VI persistently reiterated the demand for an immediate, permanent and global end to the unprecedented offensive launched on the Gaza Strip, as well as authorization for the delivery of humanitarian aid throughout the Palestinian territory.
“Based on our responsibilities as the sovereign of the Kingdom of Morocco – whose people passionately strive for justice, solidarity and coexistence with other peoples – and in the capacity of the President of the Al-Quds Committee, we persistently repeat our demand for an immediate, permanent and global end to this unprecedented offensive, as well as approval for the delivery of humanitarian aid throughout the Gaza Strip”, underlined H.V. The King in a speech at the 15th Summit of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), which was held on 4-5 May in Banjul, Republic of The Gambia.
“In the face of the brutal aggression against Gaza, our bruised hearts are bleeding,” the Sovereign said in essence in this speech, which was read by the Minister of Habous and Islamic Affairs Ahmed Toufiq, stressing that the brave Palestinian people are facing an extremely serious situation that is an insult to the whole humanity.
“This tense situation has been exacerbated by the increase in systematic attacks by extremist settlers in the West Bank, at the instigation of Israeli government officials,” affirms His Majesty the King, calling for an end to any act of provocation that could reignite the conflict, as well as an end to illegal measures that Israel has unilaterally undertaken in the occupied Palestinian territories, including Al-Quds Acharif and the Holy Al-Aqsa Mosque.
“This practice aims to change the legal status as well as the civilizational character of the Holy City”, warns the Sovereign, once again expressing his “categorical rejection of all forms of forced displacement, collective punishment and acts of reprisal directed against our Palestinian brothers”.
In this regard, H.E. The king calls on the countries that influence the process of resolving this conflict to take their historical responsibility and to show common sense, by actively working to end this catastrophic situation in order to get the region out of the crisis of violence and to end the policy of exclusion and fait accompli.
“We call on them to work on creating favorable conditions for the resumption of a true peace process, which will lead to an internationally agreed two-state solution,” insists the Sovereign.
His Majesty the King also did not fail to recall that, in his capacity as chairman of the Al-Quds Committee, and to face the humanitarian disaster unprecedented in the modern world caused by the aggression against Gaza, taking the initiative to send large amounts of aid to the Palestinians, directly to Gaza and Al -Quds, and – in coordination with the Egyptian authorities – through the Rafah crossing.
“We were so moved by the duty of solidarity that guides the activities of our Organization, as well as by the desire to contribute to the aid and assistance efforts carried out by fraternal and friendly countries”, said the Sovereign, welcoming the action that was carried out. on the ground, despite the difficulties, by the Bayt Mal Al-Quds Agency in order to carry out socio-economic projects for the benefit of the Makdesi population and to support certain hospitals.
His Majesty the King also affirmed that the discourse on the future of the Gaza Strip is coherent only if hostilities cease and if the suffering of the Palestinian people is alleviated, stressing that this strip, which is an integral part of the united Palestinian territories and therefore constitutes the Palestinian cause, must, according to the vision of the solution two states and in accordance with the relevant international resolutions, live in peace and enjoy independence.
For the Sovereign, the continued management of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict without achieving a realistic and lasting solution has caused frustration and destroyed any hope for peace.
“It has also caused a series of devastating disasters, with its share of humanitarian tragedies whose serious consequences affect not only stability and peace in the Middle East but also international security,” continued His Majesty the King.
Suver took the opportunity to express his deep concern over the rise of hate speech that is causing more and more victims, noting that this scourge, fueling a cycle of violence and instability, poses a serious threat to peace and security in many regions. of the world.
His Majesty the King, in this context, expressed the hope that the resolution proposed by Morocco and unanimously adopted by the General Assembly of the United Nations, on July 25, 2023, on the topic “Combating hate speech: promotion of interreligious, intercultural dialogue and tolerance”, will make it possible to make a qualitative step forward in terms of actions to suppress the phenomenon of extremism and hate speech.
“Today, we again call for vigilance, firmness and coordination in order to oppose these harmful abuses, with the same energy that we attach to the principles of interreligious and intercultural dialogue, tolerance, openness and respect for others”, underlined His Majesty the King.
Suver also mentioned the situation in certain Islamic countries such as Libya, Mali, Somalia, Sudan and others, which are facing conflicts, recommending the protagonists to virtuously resort to dialogue and reconciliation that will enable the end of these crises, as part of preserving the sovereignty of these brotherly countries and defending their national unity and territorial integrity.
