A fatal start to the match for CF Montreal

CF Montreal lost for the fourth time in their last seven games, this time against Nashville SC, on Saturday night at Geodis Park.

In fact, Laurent Courtois’ men lost by a score of 4-1. The Montrealers will surely regret it, having conceded two goals in the first 20 minutes of the game.

Sam Surridge first opened the scoring by capitalizing on a fine through ball from Dru Yearwood. The first City received the ball before opening his foot to beat goalkeeper Jonathan Sirois. Ten minutes later, Walker Zimmerman doubled his team’s lead from a corner when he used his head to send the ball into the back of the net.

Back from the dressing room, Surridge struck again after a great team effort, before completing his hat-trick at the very end of the match.

At 65e minute, and after a cross Zimmerman wanted to avert the danger, but instead he deflected the ball straight into the cages.

Still, it was the only goal for the Montrealers, who failed to be very dangerous before the final whistle, although they thought they reduced it to 4 to 2 with another goal against the camp of Nashville. That said, this success was denied by the officials due to an offside by Mason Toye.

With this defeat, Montreal is now 11the position in the Eastern Conference by virtue of a fall of 12 points in 10 games. As a reminder, the Belle Province club has not won since April 13 against FC Cincinnati.

CF will face Forge FC on Tuesday in the quarter-finals of the Canadian Championship, before welcoming Lionel Messi and Inter Miami on May 11 at Stade Saputo.
