The Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) supports a number of diverse and innovative missions to advance its ambitious space science program. According to the Space News website, these missions cover a wide range of fields such as lunar exploration, astrophysics, exoplanets and heliophysics, with the goal of bringing China to the forefront of astronomical research and space exploration. The selected missions include the Discovery of the Sky at Longest Wavelength (DSL), the Enhanced X-ray Timing and Polarimetry (eXTP) mission, and the ExoEarth Survey, a satellite designed to search for exoplanets. Another mission will be to send a probe to observe the sun’s poles, while the Taiji mission will use three satellites to detect gravitational waves.
It should be noted that these missions are separate from the Chinese National Space Administration’s planetary and lunar exploration programs known as Tianwen and Chang’e for lunar exploration.
