Istres qualified for the Proligue Final Four

The draw of Pontault-Combault, on Saturday night, in Sarrebourg (28-28), on behalf of the 29th day of the Proligue (D2) makes the business of Istres, who won in Valence, on Friday (33-22). Thus, the teammates of Vincent Gérard in Istria (the international goalkeeper author of 14 saves with 40%) steal second place in the standings from the inhabitants of Ile-de-France, qualifying for the Proligue Final Four, June 1 and 2 in Sélestat. Pontault-Combault is exempt from the 30th and final day of the regular stage, next Friday, due to Villeurbanne’s overall package. Massy is hosted by Istres.

Istreens therefore joined Tremblay-en-France in the Final Four, already qualified for the last four for a while, as a solid leader of the Proligue (52 points against 38 in Istres, its second place). Guaranteed to finish first in the regular season with one day to go, Tremblay-en-France has the first ticket to advance to the Starligue (D1) next season. The second ticket for the elite will be awarded after the Final Four, which will also designate the French Proligue champion in 2024. The clubs classified from 3rd to 6th place, after the regular phase, will compete in the playoffs in a round-robin match, the two winners advance to the Final Four.
