Engie wants to sell its interest in the Safi coal-fired power station (1,386 MW).

The French energy company has a 33% stake in this plant, equipped with two units of 693 MW each.

France’s Engie plans to sell its 33% stake in Safi Energy Company SA’s coal-fired power plant.SAFIEC) in Morocco as part of a strategy to sell all of the group’s coal assets by January 2027, Reuters news agency reported on April 26, citing Loïc Jaegert-HuberNorth Africa director of Engie.

Mr Jaegert-Huber said the company had received expressions of interest from buyers.

The SAFIEC coal-fired power plant is a private electricity generation project completed in 2018. The power plant is located in the Safi region. It has a total capacity of 1386 MW, from two units of 693 MW each.
