Hassan Hajjaj shines at the AlUla Arts Festival

Hassan Hajjaj, one of the pioneers of photography and pop art in general in Morocco, has recently lit up the international scene. He has had the opportunity to open exhibitions in the United States, Morocco, and most recently at the AlUla Arts Festival in Saudi Arabia. His work, although diverse, has won a wide audience thanks to its original and colorful style.

The exhibition in AlUla included photographs taken by the photographer during his visit to the city in February 2023. Hassan Hajjaj spent three intense days photographing around 100 people, providing a rich exploration of AlUla’s cultural diversity.

Known for his unique artistic eye, and his skillful combination of photography, scenography, design and fashion, Haggag has brought a breath of fresh air to this ancient city steeped in history. Through his colorful and dynamic images, he captures the essence of the city and its people. From local sponsors and the AlUla Football Team to international figures such as Alicia Keys and Swizz Beatz, each subject is captured in a setting that celebrates their individuality and connection to the city.

Hassan Hajjaj’s approach as an artist goes beyond just taking pictures. He reveals to Arab News that each photo shoot is a “performance” in itself, where the music, clothes and atmosphere contribute to creating a space for authentic expression.
