Presidential elections in Mauritania: the ruling party adopted the candidacy of Mohamed El Ghazouani

The ruling political party has decided to nominate Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani as its candidate for the presidential election next June, the party said in a press release issued at the end of its national council, held on Saturday.

On this occasion, the president of the Party, Maalainine Ould Eyih, confirmed that the decision to approve the candidacy of Mr. Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani for a second term adopted in accordance with the party statute and in response to the demands of the majority party (13 training courses).

The Mauritanian electorate is invited to vote on June 29 for the election of the President of the Republic and in the case of a second round on July 13. The election campaign begins on Friday, June 14, and ends on Thursday, June 27 at midnight.
