And in 1984, Jean-Charles met another film lover, the then president of the Chatelrohe Photo Club. “When I joined the association forty years ago, I still had a lot to learn. Luckily, everyone is very educated and we learn from each other. I also read a lot of books. » Fascinated by animation and special effects, Jean-Charles Vailleux has always been interested in what happens behind the scenes. “I like knowing how films were made. For example, the special effects of the first Star Wars were created using pieces of rope. » Keeping up with the times In the early 1990s, an enthusiast took the reins of the association, based in the Taupanne Hall in Chatellerault. The young 64-year-old retiree and CCC members produce reports, documentaries, live recordings and some fiction. But today the club must face the aging of its members, whose average age is 60, and the evolution of cinema. “It’s difficult to attract the younger generation. Today, thanks to phones, making videos is quick and easy. We, for our part, are adapting to the evolution of traditional production. Film was gradually replaced by VHS and then by the memory card. And films have a shorter lifespan,” emphasizes the amateur videographer.
