free tool to remove all ads from Windows 11 in just a few clicks

Windows 11 updates always include more advertisements and other “advice.” Luckily, they can quickly disappear with OFGB, a small piece of software that is free and easy to use.

Microsoft seems determined to display more and more advertisements in Windows 11. Since its release, the operating system has received various updates that have gradually brought new advertisements and other recommendations everywhere. While the advertising approach is understandable for free products and services, for paid software it is more annoying and less legitimate, since Windows 11 is not free and you pay for it every time you buy a device equipped with this OS.

And this trend of ads being shown in Windows 11 itself doesn’t seem to be abating. In addition to fake apps present in the Start menu that are actually from the Microsoft Store purchase page, unwanted antivirus or OneDrive notifications that appear in the corner of the screen, advertisements can also appear in File Explorer, on your computer’s lock screen, and even in Settings menu after a recent update.

Of course, most of these advertisements can still be turned off using Windows 11 settings, but they are scattered throughout the system, making the task time-consuming and often leading to some of them being forgotten. To make it all easier, developer xM4ddy has developed a small, free, open-source utility called OFGB (Oh Frick Go Back) that brings all the settings for turning off ads on Windows 11 into one window. Simple, effective and practical.

How to remove ads from Windows 11 using OFGB?

Using OFGB to remove all ads built into Windows 11 is very simple and fast. The tool appears as a single window offering a list of checkboxes to select the advertisements you want to get rid of. The utility acts directly on the Windows 11 registry, changing certain keys and values, which theoretically guarantees complete and permanent deactivation of advertising. To download and use OFGB, follow these few steps:

► Go to this OFGB project page on GitHub, scroll down to the page and click on the file. OFGB-Deps.exe to download it.

► Open the folder where you downloaded the file OFGB-Deps.exe and double click on it. If Windows 11 displays a warning message on a blue background that says “Windows has protected your PC,” click the line Further information then on the button Run anyway. After this, the OFGB tool runs directly (it does not require installation).

► To remove ads integrated into various parts of Windows 11, simply check the boxes corresponding to the ones you want to get rid of (our advice: just check them all). For the changes to take effect, simply restart your computer.

And since OFGB weighs only 173MB and can be used without installation, you can easily save it to a USB drive or external drive to have on hand for cleaning various devices or to help your friends and family get rid of them. increasingly aggressive Windows 11 advertising.

Finally, note that OFGB is not the only tool capable of removing ads on Windows 11: Winpilot, another free software that now replaces Bloatynosy, also has the same type of function. This is again a utility created by an independent developer, which you will find on a dedicated GitHub page. The difference is that it offers other cleaning and optimization options for both Windows 10 and Windows 11, in particular to disable the system’s AI functions, and also has a system of extensions (plugins) to integrate other very useful tools (CoTweaker, Decrapify , WingetUI, etc.). Worth a try too!
