Official launch on Monday – “Mo Bienet”: an app for getting health information

“Mo Biene” was launched on Monday, May 6, 2024, by the Ministry of Health at its headquarters in Port Louis. This mobile application is designed to disseminate health related information to the general public as well as medical personnel.

Kailesh Jagutpal explained that its implementation is among the measures announced in the Budget 2023-24 and the Health Sector Strategic Plan 2020-24 launched in 2020. The project was able to be implemented thanks to the cooperation of the World Health Organization (WHO).

During the launch ceremony, the Health Minister explained that the app will offer up-to-date information on dengue, healthy eating, healthy living, disease awareness, and tips on non-communicable diseases, mental health and cardiovascular diseases, among others. The Help section also allows users to obtain details of medical facilities, opening hours, contact details and directions using the map search tool.

The “Events” section, in turn, provides information about events organized by the ministry for the general public. This could be a physical activity program promoting yoga, tai chi, aerobics, Bollywood aerobics, Zumba, exercise and karate, says Kailesh Jagutpal.
In addition to information about various diseases, patients will now have the opportunity to evaluate the quality of services received in medical institutions and assign a rating. This assessment, according to the minister, will improve the service.

“Patients will be encouraged to share their thoughts on various aspects of the hospital experience, including hygiene, staffing and other elements, to contribute to the continuous improvement of services,” he explained.

According to him, this is a big step forward. He believes that receiving such feedback from patients and using telecommunications technology to provide the necessary information to the public is a big step.

The mobile application is also aimed at healthcare workers who will be able to access relevant information about their sector, such as infection control and prevention measures, the minister added. “Health care staff will have access to accurate information about what they need, such as how to prevent the spread of infections and maintain the necessary standards of hygiene and prevention. »
