The African Climate Roundtable will take place on 7 and 8 May in Johannesburg, under the theme “Scaling up climate finance and adaptation for greater resilience in Africa”.

Key speakers at the conclave include UN Under-Secretary Amina Mohamed, World Food Program (WFP) Southern Africa Regional Director Menghestab Hailé, UN SGA and Director-General of the African Risk Management Capacity Ibrahima Cheikh Diong and WHO Regional Director for Africa (WHO) Matshidiso Moeti.

Co-organized by leading global actors and renowned African institutions in the fields of climate change and food security, this roundtable aims to stimulate cooperation, innovation and coordination of efforts for sustainable change.

Held in a hybrid format, live and online, this conclave is designed to bring together stakeholders from various sectors to address pressing challenges in climate action and food security in Africa.

Participants will take part in two days of discussions, interactive workshops and networking opportunities designed to identify the pressing challenges facing African countries in climate action and food security, while designing strategic interventions to address them.

It is also about the exchange of best practices through the interventions of leading experts and practitioners who lead innovative approaches to climate adaptation, mitigation and sustainable agriculture.

In addition, the event will build collaborative partnerships connecting stakeholders from academia, government, NGOs and businesses to co-create bespoke solutions.

At the end of this meeting, participants will be guided to set a platform for continental coordination, develop a plan for coordinated climate action, engage stakeholders and countries for a larger-scale response, and create a pan-African climate action group for long-term impact.
