Sochepress, 100 years of excellence in favor of a culture accessible to all Moroccans

Since its founding in 1924 under the name Société Chérifienne de Distribution et de Presse, Sochepress has built a reputation as a key player in promoting a culture that is accessible to as many people as possible.

The distribution of national and international press has always been central to Sochepress’s identity and history. It is this strong identity mark that allows readers of the press to find every day, in all cities of the Kingdom, a diverse and multilingual range of magazines and media that suit their tastes.

Over the decades, Sochepress has adapted to market developments, offering cultural and educational products that meet the expectations of the general public and thus offering a benchmark value proposition in the cultural and educational field.

Sochepress, a journey anchored in the history of Morocco

The history of Sochepress merges with that of the Kingdom of Morocco, as in its governance and core activities it reflects the developments experienced by the national press sector.

From a 100% French capital round to 50% Moroccan capital, before Moroccan institutions from the financial and welfare sectors become the majority in the capital in 2019; Sochepress was able to adapt to the challenges of different situations and very quickly positioned itself as a major player in publishing and distribution in Morocco and the region.

Thanks to solid partnerships with governments and educational institutions, Sochepress has become a major player in the production of educational materials and solutions that meet the needs of public and private schools.

The support of national and international authors and the extensive network of customers and booksellers have also helped to promote contemporary literature, cultural diversity and inclusion throughout the country. It is in this context that Sochepress has chosen to promote national and international literary talent with its publishing house: Sochepress Editions, which serves ‘Made in Morocco’ literature.

The celebration of this centenary marks an important milestone in the history of Sochepress and testifies to its continued commitment to the promotion of Moroccan culture and its contribution to the enrichment of the national tangible and intangible heritage.
