In addition to store signs, local institutions created works in honor of the panda, decorating the city in the festival’s colors a few hours before the opening of the 51st session.
Their most visible works currently adorn the storefronts, but they are closed on weekends. Over the years, the city’s schools, entertainment centres, cultural associations, nursing homes and reception centers for the elderly have produced many creations that beautify the heart of the city during the festival.
Since last year, due to the success of this initiative, the organizers have had to find new creative support.
“We don’t always have many dealers who come to us with their protection boards to be painted. Many services and institutions shine every year,” says Françoise Dorbes, secretary general of the festival. “So we prepared boards so that these artists can express themselves and decorate Their creations are other sites. It started with the festival restaurant, where the newest paintings created, which joined the monastery from last year, were installed.
This new series of twelve paintings, works by students from La Fontaine and Mendès France, but also from residents of the Tenarez care home in particular, was inaugurated by the festival directors, mayor Jean-François Rous and school representatives. With the city decked out in red and white, and the stands and stages prepared for the musicians’ arrival, everything is now ready for the festival to open on Friday at 6:30pm.
