Maserati GranCabrio Folgore, a convertible with breathtaking performance

A few days ago, Maserati launched the GranCabrio Folgore, the first 100% electric convertible in the luxury segment. A segment to which it belongs since the basic model has a price from 208,850 euros. This model borrows its DNA from Formula E for its engine and architecture and delivers breathtaking performance. With a top speed of 290 km/h, it is even the fastest electric convertible on the market. A speed obtained thanks to the power developed by three engines. The design of the GranCabrio Folgore takes the classic proportions of the Trident brand and adds a touch of convertible elegance. Inside, Maserati offers an interior that is both bold and refined. Italian craftsmanship alternates with innovation and technology.

Three engines for maximum power

The GranCabrio Folgore stands out primarily for its performance in terms of speed. It can go from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.8 seconds and reach a speed of 290 km/h. Performance made possible by the three powerful 300 kW permanent magnet motors. Engines that are part of the Maserati tradition: from racing to the road. Together they deliver up to 610 kW of combined power and a maximum torque of 1,350 Nm. The two rear motors are completely decoupled and ensure that the torque can be sent to both sides independently of each other. The car also has a 92.5 kWh battery, which offers a WLTP range of up to 447 km. In addition, the 800 volt technology makes it possible to charge with 270 kW at ultra-fast DC terminals. Enough to regain up to 100 km of autonomy in 5 minutes.

An iconic and elegant design

Maserati created the GranCabrio in parallel with the GranTurismo, from which it adopted the sobriety and elegance of the lines. This while maintaining the balance between aesthetic approach and functionality without the ostentation of the coupe version. It also retained the brand’s classic proportions, with the long hood and central body intersected by the four wings. The elegant yet decisive profile gives the surfaces a pleasantly dynamic appearance. The wavy lines emphasize the transition between the refinement of the design and the technical aspects of the car. When closed, the fabric roof retains its sleek line. Open emphasizes the luxury of the cabin. Finally, the vertical lamps at the front, which incorporate the new Maserati light signature, give the car a sporty appearance. Conversely, the grille features the iconic 3D Trident logo.

A cool and refined interior

The interior of the GranCabrio Folgore is bold and refined. It embodies the spirit of Maserati by combining traditional craftsmanship with the use of noble materials, which perfectly defines the elegance of the design. A refined and contemporary design inspired by the brand’s philosophy: “the balance of opposites”. The result makes the GranCabrio extremely luxurious and uplifts its soul. Also a perfect mix of luxury and technology, the interior is equipped with a double touchscreen. A central screen of 12.3 inches and a comfort screen of 8.8 inches, both ergonomically positioned. The digital dashboard remains a benchmark in intuitiveness and ease of configuration. On the other hand, the contrast between luxury and technology immediately catches the eye with the lowered roof. This is especially true when we look at the uniquely crafted materials and then the screens that bring the controls together.

ADAS for safe travel

Maserati GranCabrio Folgore

In addition to its speed performance, the GranCabrio, which offers four real seats, is perfect for long journeys. To ensure that they are carried out in complete safety, Maserati has equipped it with numerous driving aids. Their first mission is to help the driver in complex situations to fully enjoy the GranCabrio driving experience. ADAS also improves safety. When maintaining the hard shoulder, the Maserati active driving assistance further enhances the active lane function. Enough to protect the occupants with very powerful steering maneuvers during an impending collision. The rear emergency braking system also predicts impending collisions. It brakes automatically to eliminate the possibility of a collision with vehicles and objects in front of the GranCabrio.
