Oracle confirms the launch of its Research & Development center in Morocco

As we first announced, today the American giant Oracle officially confirmed its plan to launch a Research & Development center in Morocco, news that should boost the technology sector in the country.

The confirmation came after Ghita Mezzour, Minister Delegate of the Head of Government in charge of Digital Transition and Administrative Reform, signed an agreement with Oracle Corporation at a ceremony in San Francisco, United States.

This R&D center, the first of its kind in Africa, will recruit more than 1,000 highly qualified Moroccan profiles, with priority given to engineers and doctoral researchers. The center’s main goal will be to design and develop innovative solutions intended to be deployed around the world. These solutions will cover areas considered groundbreaking, particularly artificial intelligence and the cloud, where Oracle is considered a global benchmark.

Oracle, one of the largest technology companies in the world, is headquartered in Redwood City, California, in the heart of Silicon Valley. In 2023, the group achieved a turnover of $50 billion, confirming its leading position in relational databases, cloud computing, data management, artificial intelligence, business management and financial services, among others.

This project is expected to not only strengthen Oracle’s position as a major player in the global technology market, but also contribute to Morocco’s economic and technological development, by providing employment and stimulating innovation in the technology sector.
