Late Thursday evening, a suspicious package was discovered in an office building in the Ville-Marie area, leading to the evacuation of its occupants.
The 911 call came in around 4:45 p.m., said Caroline Chevrefils, spokeswoman for the Montreal Metropolitan Police Service (SPVM). The suspicious package was allegedly found inside a building by security agents on Boulevard René-Lévesque, near Rue Saint-Urbain.
The scene is secured and a Tactical Intervention Team (GTI) will be sent to the scene to analyze the package.
The Montreal Fire Department was called and residents were evacuated as a preventative measure.
Possible surveillance cameras will be checked. The investigation is ongoing.
