It all started nearly forty years ago. “Even before I was born”says Jeremy Lavalade. Her mother was not yet 20 years old and was planning to go to film school to become a director. Life decided otherwise “But in 2017, during a discussion, she made me read a handwritten notebook in which she wrote ideas for films.” Immediately the idea occurred to him: “I certainly had to continue what she was not able to complete.”

The last land left on Earth

What was initially a personal desire turned into a more ambitious feature film project, Harmony of doubt. From June 9 to 12, four days of filming are scheduled in Niort, where the team will search for around sixty additional people. The Moulin du Roc library and the Pierre-Moinot media library, among others, will serve as the setting. Scenes will also be filmed on the island of Oléron (Marine Charente). These are the first few minutes of the film to be prepared, and are enough to build a short film that will serve as a precursor to the feature version.

Pitch: After a catastrophic rise in water levels, the island of Pointe Rose remains the last surface of land in the world. There are people living in peace. fine tuning. But this harmony may hide something. In the grip of secret anxiety, journalist Tana seeks to move beyond the allegations.

This native of Niort, who studied at Eicar (International School of Creativity and Audiovisual Production) in Paris, co-directs Harmony of doubt And quote Shutter Island By Scorsese among the references. but Harmony of doubt It is first and foremost a film about the need to subject environmental topics to critical thinking.

“The choice of Niort as a filming location clearly stemmed from a personal affinity but also because the landscape, Marais Poitevin, Colonne, the Mervint Forest and also certain places in the city itself, in colors and arrangement, correspond to nature. The atmosphere of the film.”He explains.

“We find ourselves in a city that is very fond of culture, and that is not the case everywhere. If we help people discover that Niort is not just ‘the city near La Rochelle’, so much the better.”“, notes Jérémie Lavalade, himself originally from Marseille.

The latter graduated from Issyk Business School, and was ten thousand leagues away from the world of fantasy. He surrounded himself with a team of about fifty professionals from the film profession, but also from commerce, engineering and journalism.
